Very Merrytime Cruise on the Disney Wish
Standing outside of Enchanté with the fam (I’m in the pink)
Expectation: This Christmas-themed vacation will be what dreams are made of.
Mickey and Minnie dancing in their Christmasware
Reality: Almost everyone in my family got sick, the weather got us locked inside and canceled the day at Castaway Cay, and it poured the entire day in the Bahamas.
Despite the weather and sea sickness, I had a great time and will absolutely be going on a Disney cruise again.
The food was beyond amazing. We splurged for a meal at Enchanté, which, while the most incredible meal of my life, I would say is only worth doing if your cruise is long enough to get through all the included restaurants twice and you’re wanting a change of scenery or you want a quiet, child-free dinner.
The Arendelle dining room is an interactive dinner-theater which is lots of fun for the kids, but not so much fun for older adults who may have trouble hearing because it’s quite loud. (If you have aging parents, may I recommend this card magnifier? It definitely comes in handy. Note that as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.)
Disney songs are playing everywhere, all the time, which was totally lost on my dad who had the nerve to ask how I knew every song that was playing, even in the elevator or hallway 😂 But for this Disney adult it was a dream.
Nobody seems to like the movie Wish, which I do not understand. Sure, I’m biased because I saw it aboard the Wish and Asha kind of looks like me and that’s always very exciting but I love Wish! This star pillow is my favorite thing that I own and every time I squeeze it I remember how much I loved the movie and the ship 💫
There are so many activities, and they’re designated family-friendly, kid-only, or adult-only. Some of the adult-only options include the fitness center, which includes specialized classes like yoga (for which you’d find one of these tank tops a useful item to pack - note that as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases) and spa, for which you can get a day pass or a package to access throughout your cruise.
The stage productions are broadway caliber, and only 30 minutes, so the little ones shouldn’t get restless!
Even with bad weather, you can’t beat Disney’s impeccable customer service.
If you’re worried about getting sea sick, you can get meds for free from guest services.
Some helpful tips seasoned cruisers gave us:
Decorate your door with magnets (note, as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases) so it’s easy to find.
If anyone in your party has allergies or respiratory issues, bring an air purifier (don’t forget the replacement filters).
If your cruise is 2-3 days, you don’t need to spend money on an excursion. There’s more than enough to do on the ship.
