The thing I was most nervous about was the port days - what if I got lost and didn’t make it back to the boat?! But that was a nonissue. I always found some friends the night before and we would choose a meetup spot on the ship to go to port together, and once there everyone was free to wander as they pleased.

Having few friends and no significant other myself, most of my travel involves visiting those few friends, or my family. But that involves staying at someone’s house for the weekend and maybe going out to brunch. It’s not really a vacation. Not a destination.

I’ve put more energy into being upset about where I live than into embracing what it has to offer, which is stupid, so I’m actively working to change that.

My sister recently came to visit and we had a lovely little staycation!
