Eternity

⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

Expectation: 😍 (I didn’t watch the trailer or read the synopsis but went in with high expectations because I love the actors)

Reality: 😍

Eternity has a fun premise — Joan (Elizabeth Olsen) has one week to decide who to spend the afterlife with: Luke (Callum Turner), her first love who died too soon, or Larry (Miles Teller), her second husband who she spent more than 50 years with.

Right off the bat, we see Joan and Larry bicker like the old married couple they are, but they don’t seem like the best match. Then there’s Luke, who died forever ago and never chose an afterlife because he’s been waiting for Joan (swoon) all these years. Seriously, how do you compete with that?!

The film is funny and sweet as it explores passionate, young love and older, enduring love and the romantic elements of both.

It definitely redefined how I view romance and left me questioning what I really want in a relationship — I love a movie that makes me think!

Being in my single and lovin’ it phase, I really wanted Joan to pick neither of the men, but her choice makes sense and works well for the story being told.

There are plenty of twists and turns along the way, my favorite being scene stealer Da'Vine Joy Randolph as Anna, one of the Afterlife Coordinators (basically an angel; someone to welcome your soul to the afterlife and help you choose which world you want to spend eternity in). She is comedy gold and truly this movie is nothing without her.

If you see it — come back and let me know on my contact page. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
